Bangalore Photowalks is an open photography community built around a simple idea:
to experience the city through photography.
Bangalore is a city of layered streets, markets, parks, neighbourhoods, and people. Through our walks we try to slow down, observe, and document the everyday life of the city together.
The goal is not just to take photographs, but to create shared experiences of photography — walking, observing, learning from each other, and discovering parts of the city we might otherwise overlook.
Bangalore Photowalks operates as an open, informal community.
Most walks are simple: a place, a time, and people showing up with cameras or phones.
There are no barriers to entry — beginners, hobbyists, and professionals are all welcome.
Because of this openness, the community functions on mutual trust and shared responsibility. Everyone who joins contributes to the tone and experience of the walk.
Before joining a walk, please take a moment to read our Walk Guidelines, which outline how we keep the community safe, respectful, and welcoming for everyone
While the walks happen in the streets of Bangalore, the community stays connected online.
Our home base is Instagram, where we announce walks, share photographs from the community, and document our explorations of the city.

We also have an active WhatsApp community where members share photographs, ask questions, and stay updated about upcoming walks.

Joining a walk is simple.
When a walk is announced, just show up at the location with a camera (or phone), comfortable shoes, and curiosity about the city.
Announcements and updates are regularly posted on Instagram and on this website. Sometimes a walk may be announced with the general location first, and specific details such as the exact meeting point may be shared closer to the walk.
In such cases, updates will be posted through:
Instagram Stories
Messages in the community groups
Updates on this website
If you are planning to attend a walk, it’s a good idea to check Instagram Stories and recent updates before heading out.
And before joining, please take a moment to read the Walk Guidelines, which explain how we keep the community open, respectful, and safe for everyone.
